Bhopal: A 50-year-old patient suffering from advanced gallbladder cancer has been treated successfully at Bhopal Memorial Hospital & Research Centre (BMHRC) with a stent implant, thus avoiding major surgery. Very few hospitals of Madhya Pradesh are having facilities for this procedure.
Dr Pramod Verma, acting HOD & assistant professor, gastro surgery department said, “We performed a laparoscopic bypass procedure (gastrojejunostomy) on the patient to treat her.”
Dr Radheshyam Meena, assistant professor, radiology department said, “We implanted a metallic stent in the patient’s common bile duct through DSA machine by interventional radiology technique.”
She was treated under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana.
