Panaji: Health minister Vishwajit Rane said on Friday that Goa Medical College (GMC) is gearing up to start a state-of-the-art department of chest and robotic surgery. “I assure the people of Goa that they will no longer have to travel to Mumbai for complex chest and chest oncology-related surgeries,” he said.
This will be the next step after the hospital’s pursuit to start a full-fledged super-speciality block within the GMC premises, the minister said. All superspecialities from GMC will be moved to the new block shortly, for which preparations are underway, a GMC official said. tnn
