doval: Enhance Afghanistan’s capability to counter terror groups: NSA Doval | India News

NEW DELHI: NSA Ajit Doval addressed the 4th regional security dialogue on Afghanistan in Dushanbe on Friday and called upon all participating countries – Tajikistan, Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Kyrgyzstan – to work together to enhance Afghanistan’s capability to “counter terrorism and terrorist groups that pose a threat to regional peace and security”, reports Sachin Parashar.
“Foremost priority should be right to life and a dignified living as well as protection of human rights of all,” said Doval in the meeting. Doval had bilateral meetings with Patrushev and also his Iranian and Tajikistan counterparts. China was represented by external security commissioner of the foreign ministry, Cheng Guoping.
With the Taliban facing international outrage for the restrictions imposed on women and girls, Doval said women and youth are critical for the future of any society and that provision for education to girls and employment to women and youth will “ensure productivity and spur growth”.
“It will also have positive social impact, including discouraging radical ideologies among youth,” said Doval.
Doval underscored India’s position that Afghanistan needs an inclusive government as he highlighted the need for representation of all sections of Afghan society, including women and minorities, “so that the collective energies of the largest possible proportion of the Afghan population feel motivated to contribute to nation building”.
