The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur has introduced a Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Data Science for Business Excellence and Innovation. Early- and mid-career professionals seeking upskilling chances to perform well in their existing employment and take on bigger challenges as they progress through various stages in their careers are targeted for the PG certificate programmes.
The programmes which are 9 to 12 months long, are held outside of work hours, and allow working executives to learn from their preferred location.
The program’s inaugural batch was welcomed by Atul Arun Pathak (Chairperson, Executive Education). To deliver these programmes, Jaro Education has partnered with IIM Nagpur.
“Currently, we have three programmes, the flagship MBA programme, the PhD programme beginning this year, and the MBA for Working Professionals that we are intending to launch in August to cater to industry professionals in and around Vidarbha. In addition, in October, we will begin executive MBA programmes in Pune. In Hyderabad, plans are in the works to launch a comparable programme in the coming academic year,” said Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur.
Participants in the initial batch of the programme come from a variety of backgrounds. HCL Technologies, TCS, Wipro, JP Morgan, Genpact, and Bank of America, to name a few, are among the nearly 60 multinational organisations represented. The class is made up of 40% female professionals with an average of 11 years of experience. The candidates hail from 31 cities in 14 Indian states.
The inauguration address was given by Srimathi Shivashankar (Corporate Vice President and Head – New Vistas, HCL Technologies). She stated that man and machine must collaborate in order to increase productivity and growth, emphasising that only those with multidisciplinary abilities and the ability to handle general management will be future leaders.
