Microsoft Teams: Shared channels and features

With Microsoft’s new Teams Connect, it will be easier to collaborate with those inside and outside your organization, helping your extended team work effectively and efficiently across organizational boundaries. Though, since the start of the pandemic, Microsoft Teams has enjoyed great success, which is now having more than 270 million monthly active users. Well, till now, the platform has focused primarily on the interactions between the co-workers and connecting beyond the boundaries of the company was a bit difficult.

Now, the addition of Teams Connect shared channels will turn the service into a hub for business collaboration, allowing multiple parties to hold video meetings and exchange messages, files, and other data in a safe environment. The main aim of the features is to bring cross-business collaboration to Teams and make the video-conferencing platform a commonplace for working, containing everything an employee might need to execute their objectives.

“With shared channels, multiple organizations can work together in a shared space. Have conversations, schedule a meeting, share, and co-author files, and collaborate on apps, without ever switching tenants,” Microsoft said in regards to the new update. Not just that, as part of making the cross-communication better, Microsoft is also building a strong ecosystem of third-party apps for the platform. This is an effort to minimise the need for users to switch between different services. Everything will be possible under the same roof – Microsoft Teams.

However, Microsoft confirms that the full and public review of Shared channels will be released by the end of July 2022.
